Jackson Homecomers Clean Up
  • Troop 311 performs an important and highly visible community service by helping to pick up trash around the courthouse during the annual Jackson Homecomers event. Each Scout in the Troop is expected to participate according to the duty roster given below.  Wear your Class B t-shirts.  Each person should bring gloves and a large trash bag. Meet at the fountain by the courthouse at 9:00 p.m.  Clean up should be done by 10:00 p.m.

  • There is a court of honor at the IC School cafeteria at 2:00 on Sunday, 6/8.

    The Flaming Arrows need to be there at 1:00 to set up, and the Lost Boy Scouts will stay after to clean up.

    Philmont 2008 crews: Meet at Associated Sheet Metal to load backpacks. Mr. Sievers will be there at 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.


    Sale at Scout Shop (4/18/08)
    The Scout Shop currently has a sale on Scout Zip-Off Pants Buy 1 Get 1 Free (2 pair for $43), this is just in time for Summer Camp. Not sure how long the sale will last, so if you need some, don't wait too long. Great sale for a father and son to go pick up another pair or two scouts to go and buy some new pants.

    Monday March 17 during the regular troop meeting Gary Springer will be giving a brief presentation for the Friends of Scouting campaign. Please make every effort to attend.

    WHAT IS FRIENDS OF SCOUTING AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
    Friends of Scouting is an annual opportunity for Scout families and others to give financial support to the Council's Scouting program.
    • Friends of Scouting provides 29 percent of the Council's funding.
    • 81 cents of every dollar is spent on programs and services to units. (The not-for-profit standard is 75 cents.)
    • More than 67,000 children benefit from Council programs.

    Philmont Hike Saturday Mar. 1 - 8:00 AM
    at Apple Creek Conservation Area. To get there: Take 61 North to "C" road to "CC", go right on "CC" to county road #525 ( Horse Trail Sign). Turn right on #525, go about ˝ mile and turn in lane on left where small brown MDC signs are. Will probably take 10 minutes drive time from Jackson, just for your planning purposes... Packs to be 25% of your weight, up to 50 lb. Bring a snack and water! There's a nice map of the area on the web at http://mdc.mo.gov/documents/area_brochures/8612map.pdf

    There is a Wilderness First Aid class for interested Philmont attendees and anyone else who would like to participate, Saturday, January 26th, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, at the American Red Cross building in Cape. RSVP to Ben Gilliland or Tim Sutterer by Friday, January 25th, if you would like to attend. Cost is $40.

    WEBELOS INVITATIONAL
    The Webelos invitational campout will be held on January 11th-13th in Wappapello, Missouri. The patrol leaders, ASPL's, and SPL will go down Friday evening and the rest of the troop will go down Saturday morning with the Webelos. The cost of the trip will be $11.00. Depart Jackson pool by 9:00 a.m.

    Monday Jan 14 (during the meeting) there will be a presentation by Mark Hurt on the "Eagle Scout Project Process" and the "Eagle Scout Application Process". All Life Scouts and at least 1 parent should plan on attending.

    We will be starting Protestant Religious Emblem classes on Tuesday, January 8, at 7:00 p.m. This will be an informationaal meeting, so if you think you may be interested please attend this meeting. The classes are God and Church (grades 6-8) and God and Life (grades 9-12). Please contact Mr. Dale or Mrs. Spiecker if you are interested in participating. Classes will be the second Tuesday of each momth at Cox Hall.

    January 5, 2008 9:00 AM Scouts and Dads will meet at the Teegarden’s house:
    Scouts will setup tents for inspection and junking.
    Dads will be working up some fire wood.
    At noon we will have roasted hot dogs, burgers Chips & bug juice. All will be dismissed after you eat.

    Class C clothing and work gloves.

    FUN WILL BE HAD BY ALL.

    Directions to Teegarden house;
    From the Farmington – Independence (RT D) Street intersection. Casey’s General Store. Travel NORTH on Farmington for 1.5 ml to 2315 CO RD 439. ( Farmington turns into CO RD 439) Look for the sign on the left for Teegarden’s Electrolysis and turn in the drive.

    Thursday Jan 10 Committee Meeting at 7:00 PM. All adults are encouraged to attend.

    Merit Badge Day on Dec. 29 at the First Baptist Church in Delta. If you did not send payment with your registration form, you may bring the payment the day of the classes.
    Registration begins at 8:30 with the classes being held from 9:00-3:00. Lunch is provided and a patch is included. Class A uniforms are required. The Scouts need to bring signed merit badge cards. Bus will going and will be leaving from Country Mart parking lot in Jackson at 8:00 AM sharp. For Pet Care Merit Badge: pets may ride the bus, only if in pet carrier, NO EXCEPTIONS
    Directions to the church are to take Highway 25 to Delta. Turn north on Highway N. The church is 3.4 mile on the right. Your may go to the church’s website at fbcdelta.org and it will link you to a map of the church. We look forward to seeing Troop 311 on Dec. 29th!

    The deadline for signing up for the Alabama trip in February is coming up fast so you need to let Mr. Garvey know that you are planning to go by December 27, only two days after Christmas!!

    Don't forget about the merit badge workshop on December 8!

    The Philmont hike has been cancelled for the month of December.

  • Philmont practice hike at Trail of Tears state park on Saturday, July 21 at 7:30 a.m. Meet at Lake Boutin parking lot. The earlier start time is to beat the heat of the day. Contact Tim Sutterer for information.


  • Jackson Homecomer's is July 24-28. Troop 311 Scouts assist by picking up trash around the courthouse each night. Meet at the fountain by 9:30 p.m. Wear Class B blue Troop t-shirt. Bring trash bags and gloves. Each night one adult leader will record attendees and pass the list on to Mr. Krydynski. If a Scout is unable to make his assigned night, then it is his responsibility to trade with another Scout. All Troop 311 Scouts will participate. The duty roster is given below.

    SUMMER CAMP 2007

  • Meet in the Jackson Junior High parking lot by 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 1. The bus will not be used. All Scouts and parents must carpool to Camp Lewallen.


  • Remember to bring your medical form if you have not already turned it in.


  • If you take medication, bring a one week plus one day supply.


  • Remember to bring any merit badge pre-work you have completed.


  • Double check the recommended personal equipment list.


  • Wednesday is Family Night and Order of the Arrow ceremony. Families should arrive at Camp between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. Families should bring dinner because the dining hall will not serve food that night.

    • Return the completed Merit Badge request form at the next Troop meeting on Monday, May 21. A copy of the merit badge schedule and request form is available here.


    • The next Troop meeting on Monday, May 21 is the deadline to submit advancement and merit badge materials for recognition at the next Court of Honor


    • Adult leaders are needed to conduct Scoutmaster Conferences and Boards of Review at the next Troop meeting. Please arrive at 6:30 p.m. to assist several Scouts with these advancement requirements.


    • The next Court of Honor will be Sunday, June 3 at 2:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall. All Scouts will attend.


    • A list of Scouts needing Red Cards and/or Medical Forms is available here.


      • A Red Card is required for ALL aquatic activities (including free swim) and merit badges at Summer Camp. All Scouts going to Summer Camp must have a current Red Card.

        Red Card training will be Saturday, June 2 at 8:00 a.m. at the Fruitland Fire Department.

        A Class 1 Medical Form (completed by parents) is required for ALL camping activities. A Class 2 Medical Form (completed by a physician) is required for Summer Camp. A Class 3 Medical Form (completed by a physician) is required for adults over 40 years of age for Summer Camp.

        A copy of the appropriate completed form(s) should be given to Mr. Gilliland. It is recommended that you retain the original completed form(s).

The Scouts are working in conjunction of 1st Baptist Church (our meeting location sponsor). The 1st Baptist Church sponsors the gathering of schools supplies for St. Louis inner city grade school children.

    During the month Of February , on the nights of February 5th, 12th, 26th, the Scouts will have boxes at the meeting if you wish to donate writing paper, pencils, notebooks, etc. Besides benefiting those that need the supplies ,this project will also benefit one of our sponsors.

    Red Card Training and First Aid Merit Badge

  • A Red Card is required for all aquatic activities at Summer Camp. Red Cards must be renewed every two years. Red Card Training will Saturday, May 20, 8:00 a.m. - Noon at Immaculate Conception Church basement. See the table below for a list of Scouts that need Red Cards.
  • First Aid Merit Badge Training will be in the afternoon. If you wish to earn First Aid Merit Badge, you must attend Red Card Training. Merit Badge Training will end before 5:00 p.m.
  • Bring a sack lunch. You must bring a home-prepared first aid kit. Wear Class B uniform.
  • Parents are asked to attend if possible. The more parents that are present, the faster the Red Card and Merit Badge training will be.
